On another year...

I turned 28 yesterday. It was a nice day.

The last year went predictably until May rolled around. Here I sit in September and I suspect that the next year will look more like the days since my life "lost its direction" than it did before that. There is something about a life you lead as a believer that makes things seem a little less predictable. Maybe it's because things seem to happen when you aren't the one attempting to steer the boat. You end up a little further than you thought you would and find yourself heading in a different direction than you could have imagined when the journey began.

So, sitting here in this place that I've called my home for a few years, I'm looking ahead to the future and feel a bit like I'm looking out at a vast ocean. Beautiful and seemingly endless. I know that there are incredible destinations out there, and I'm sure that they will look a bit like the "portage" experiences my roommate has described in her canoeing trips. Merely a time to move across the land until you set the boat back into the water and continue on.

Time to set in.
